Have you heard of Ban Bossy? It’s the new initiative from Lean In and the Girl Scouts that’s trying to ban “bossy” and similar words that are used to bring down girls that are ambitious, take risks, and speak up. By changing the way we treat girls who lead, hopefully our generation will someday see more women in leadership roles.
I absolutely love this. I wish we had this while I was growing up. It reminds me of this one time in middle school during a group project- No one in my group had any ideas or direction (as usual) and that wasn’t going to fly with ‘quiet’ yet studious little Des and her parental pressure to get As. So I tried to lead the group, but as soon as I piped up with ideas I was put down for being bossy, shamed for caring about my grade, and I remember having the distinct impression that this entire project was my responsibility, yet I wasn’t welcome to voice any kind of input. So I did as much of the project on my own (by this point my group of 4 split somehow I was left with a perpetually absent partner), then got a lecture from the teacher about letting the other kids do their fair share and how I needed to be a better group member. I remember being told that it was my responsibility to go to absent kids house and force him to work on the project with me since we didn’t get class time- ahahahaha no.
I despised all group projects after that and never dared to take another leadership role until I got to college. And turns out, I make a damn fine leader (stop fucking around and get shit done are my mantras), it just gives me horrible terrible anxiety, probably due to some uneasiness about childhood experiences… hm.
And if someone dares call me bossy these days- You’re just asking for me to go corporate on your ass. Have that on my desk by noon. Thanks.
Yessss! Eunice (the adorable black sheep) and Pinky (the pink panda bear) are among my first villagers.
But so is Jitters and his souless stare creeps me out.Edit: And then on day 2 my fonzi boyfriend Eugene moved back in. Yes, imma like it here.
Welp, I finally hunkered down and beat the elite four in Pokemon X last night (and finally evolved my Goodra which was pretty much the last thing I wanted to do there.)
So now I’m about to bite the bullet and restart my animal crossing town. Its been months since I played. I just lost interest because I hated my towns layout. I’ll miss my old villagers but maybe I’ll see their sweet baby faces again.
So long my precious Ruby, my boyfriend Eugene, and my home girls Diva, Celia and Pecan.
Imma date it before Halloween so I can do the holidays I skipped…
Sephora, I love you, but you’re bringing me down. I don’t have the hard cash to be throwing at you and your 36 dollar bronzers, eyelash primers, lip plumpers, and whatever the fuck else your beautiful playground has to offer. I can splurge on you, sure, but when it comes to…
